The Friends of Blackburn Old Cemetery

Who are we?

The Friends of Blackburn Old Cemetery are a group of willing volunteers who are trying to conserve the cemetery by clearing and maintaining areas to improve its appearance and accessibility.

However due to council cutbacks the cemetery is no longer maintained by them and therefore The Good Friends Initiative has been formed and with the assistance of the Friends of Blackburn Old Cemetery are planning to cut grass paths to all war graves and any frequently visited graves and other work which is possible on very limited funding from the council.

We currently hold two working parties - Monday afternoons 1.00pm till 3.00pm approx. and  Wednesday mornings 10.30am till 12.30pm approx.  If you do come along please make sure you wear suitable footwear & clothing including some suitable gloves.  We will provide tools.
